MA (Economics) at UCC

The MA (Economics) enables you to develop the skills of an ‘economist’ by offering you the opportunity to work with leading businesses and policymakers on the competitiveness challenges and opportunities they face.  You will learn how to use economics to think through real problems; you will learn to complete projects to deadline, to use quantitative techniques, to develop oral and written presentation skills to a high professional standard and to work effectively in teams. The success of the programme is indicated by the employability of its graduates, which has been impressive, despite the recession.  For example, 100% of the class that graduated in December 2010 were in employment at the end of 2011.

The unique selling points of the programme are:

  • Projects completed for leading policy-makers and businesses.
  • Active support and encouragement by the teaching team
  • Examination completely by coursework – there are no end-of-year examinations.
  • Strong employment record of graduates
